Secure Shell, better known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol that is used to execute commands on a remote machine or to exchange info between a hosting server and a client. Given that the data exchanged by the two sides is encrypted, a third party won't be able to intercept it, which makes SSH an ideal means of managing an Internet hosting account. The commands which could be executed depend on the type of hosting service. On a shared hosting server, for example, the alternatives are limited as you will not have root access to the machine, so you may simply create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, import and export databases, and so forth. These are all actions that are performed in the shared hosting account and don't require a higher level of access. With a virtual or a dedicated server, you'll have the ability to install server-side software or to restart the server or only a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted through a command line, but if you don't use a UNIX-like OS, there are tons of apps for other OSs, that you can use to connect to the remote web server as well.

SSH Telnet in Shared Web Hosting

If the shared web hosting package which you’ve chosen during the signup process includes SSH access by default, you will be able to activate this function with simply a click in your Hepsia CP. If you've chosen a different plan, the SSH access function may be added via the Upgrades menu and it'll become available instantly. All the info you need to connect shall be conveniently listed in the SSH section of the Control Panel - the hostname, the username and the port number. You may also set what password to use from the same location and you shall be able to change it at any time. All of the commands that are allowed are listed inside the Help articles that we have prepared for you, in addition to examples of the syntax that you need to use. An additional advantage of enabling SSH access to your account is that you will be able to upload files using an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting

All our semi-dedicated server accounts offer the possibility to access and control them via SSH. If the package you have selected comes with this function by default, you simply have to enable the SSH access function via the corresponding section of the Hepsia CP. If the feature is listed as an optional upgrade, you are able to quickly add it using the Add Services/Upgrades link inside the Hepsia CP and it'll be available within a minute. We have various help articles and instructional videos concerning the use of SSH commands to manage your account and an entire list of the commands you can execute together with several examples to offer you a better idea of what you could do. If SSH is enabled, you'll also be able to establish an SFTP connection to the account and to upload data safely through any FTP app which supports the function.

SSH Telnet in VPS

You'll be able to use SSH to handle your content regardless which Linux VPS packages you pick when you sign up, since all our plans include this feature by default. You will not have to include or allow anything manually - as soon as your web server is prepared and you get the Welcome e mail with the login information, you may connect and start working on your Internet sites or any software that you'd like to install and run on the machine. You shall have root-level access to the VPS and because the account shall be separated from the other accounts inside the physical hosting server, you'll be able to do anything you want with no restrictions. You can install any application which you need and which will run on a Linux-based hosting server, reboot any software server (web, database, game, media, etc.) and manage your files and databases easily and quickly.
